Malhoun 2.0
ⵎⴰⵍⵃⵓⵏ2.0
ملحون
(2019/2020)
Malhoun 2.0 was a production residency/exhibition and a collaborative travel path which initiated the Malhoun platform. It aimed to re-position the relation between art and craftmanship within one and the same context again, to remerge relationships, and know-how centered around hands, materials and words.
The exhibition was a first outcome of the peculiar environment created at Fenduq by Eric van Hove, based on gatherings between craftsmen, artists, writers and thinkers. It’s an ongoing development deeply rooted in both an historical and a contemporary Moroccan socio-economic and artistic context. ‘Malhoun’ (Arabic الملحون, al-malḥūn), means ‘melodic poem’, and is a form of sung poetry that finds it origins in craftsmen’s guilds.
