H’dith o Mghezel describes a traditional form of communication over shared iterative practices. It is a heritage of communal repetition and construction paired with discourse. In the aftermath of the earthquakes that devastated communities across Morocco in 2023, the collective exhibition at Malhoun, gathers artisans, artists, architects, and designers to reflect upon the act of communal reconstruction. This is the first stage of a year-long exhibition format where members and guests showcase their productions and thoughts by way of a continuum. Overlapping organically, artworks and propositions will come and go following the conversations, intuitions, and practical needs of participants.
The restoration works of the Malhoun building in Gueliz are ongoing throughout the year. It is a gestural attempt to reveal the collective memory accumulated over the years and the various scars of its occupation. We see the ongoing reconstruction of that architectonics as part of the exhibition.

Malhoun 2.0

«Malhoun 2.0 is a collaborative travel path to re-position the relation between art and craftmanship within one and the same context again, to remerge relationships, a know how centered around hands, materials and words. The exhibition is a first visual outcome of a larger project based on gatherings between craftsmen, artists, writers and thinkers. It’s an ongoing project deeply rooted in both an historical and a contemporary Moroccan socio-economic and artistic context. ‘Malhoun’ (Arabic الملحون, al-malḥūn), means ‘melodic poem’, and is a form of sung poetry that finds it origins in craftsmen’s guilds.

ملحون 2.0 هو بمثابة مسلك تشاركي ورحلة جماعية تبتغي توزيع العلاقة بين الفن والصّنعة، داخل سياق واحد وأوحد، وذلك لتجديد الروابط وتركيز المعرفة بين الأيادي، وفي الكلمات والمواد
إنّ المعرض الجماعي ملحون 2.0 هو مسودّةُ مشروعٍ أرحب ينبني على لقاءاتٍ بين حرفيّين وفنّانين مع مؤلّفين ومفكرين في مرّاكش. يتعلّق الأمر ببعث سيرورة مُتجذّرة في السياق الاجتماعي والاقتصادي والفني المغربي تُلملم التاريخي والمعاصر. يُعدُّ الملحون قصيدةً مُلحّنة ومُغنّاة، وهو أيضاً شكلٌ شعريٌّ ولد من رحِم النقابات المهنية القديمة للحرفيّين.
